WRITING
Miss Adventures
My book is out now! “Miss-Adventures: A Tale of Ignoring Life Advice While Backpacking South America” is a travel humour memoir about my misadventures in South America. The memoir picks apart the typical unsolicited life advice doled out to women when they decide to go and do something a bit different.
Reviews
For laugh-out-loud relatable anecdotes, journalist Amy Baker's account of travelling around South America is an easy winner.

This is a fantastic debut novel from a committed, fun, honest, savvy, frank, fun voice. Life on the road is non-stop with Amy Baker and her vivid British-toned descriptions! A fun, observant read! This book took me right back to South America, into the nooks of buses and hostels and into that travel mentality. Thank you Amy Baker.

Amy's like a funnier version of Michael Palin, or a slightly less cynical Kyle Pilkington. She’s quite happy putting her innermost thoughts on the page. There’s a real honesty and relatability there that I immediately connected with.

Hilarious, heart-warming and inspiring, a true to life account of the magical part of the world that is South America. It made me want to book a flight, grab a rucksack and go back immediately. Whether you are a simple travel junkie looking for inspiration for your next adventure, a lost soul trying to find your way with the pressure of modern society on your shoulders, or you are just looking for some entertaining bedtime reading this book is for you.

Amy's knack of describing things in a way that not only make you feel like you're sharing her experiences, but have you rolling around on the floor in hysterics is nothing short of world class. I can't recall a book that gives you a permanent smile that starts on page 1 and doesn't leave you until it's over. From hilarious relatable experiences with human relationships, to utterly side-splitting anecdotes of travel in the most hostile environments South America has to offer, Amy's insight on what to do with the advice that gets fed to you on stereotype is absolutely spot on.

This book brought my travel bug back to me. It made me laugh endlessly it literally absorbed me into its pages and spat me out confused with who I was and why I wasn't the main character. A true book of escapism and one to not be missed. I shared it with a friend of mine in Aus. It has since had 4 new owners. A sign of a great book.
